Rena Ann (Stratoti) Dutra, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at her home on March 28, 2023 at the age of 84. Rena was the beloved wife of her late husband, Robert H. Dutra of 59 years.
Rena was born in Brockton on April 19, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Augustine Stratoti and Emily (Uberti) Stratoti. Rena was a loving sister to Linda Waitekunas; her sister, the late Marie Bloomstein; and her brother-in-law, the late Joseph Bloomstein.
Rena was raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in the class of 1956. Her friends called her "Re" and she participated in several school activities such as Class Nominating Committee and a variety of intramural sports. She also took pleasure in being a member of the Twentieth Century Catholic Club, ice skating, swimming, tennis, bowling and her favorite thing in life, dancing.
After graduating high school Rena attended Chandler School for Women in Boston. She was a committed and dedicated worker for Algonquin Gas Company for a number of years along with a large candy company. Rena also had a successful career in marketing for Chadwicks and Harte-Hanks.
Rena, like her late husband, was a true family woman who's greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family and many devoted friends. She impacted and touched the lives of so many people and her amazing love and compassion will live on through others forever. Rena found pleasure in painting and created a variety of artwork over the years. She fully enjoyed spending summers with her loved ones at her cottage on East Sandwich Beach and winter months in Longboat Key, FL. Rena enjoyed traveling to many beautiful places such as Italy, Portugal, Hawaii, Bermuda, and many other tropical islands.
Rena is survived by her devoted children, her daughter Andrea Chew and her husband Robert, along with her son Derek Dutra and his wife Lori. She was the loving mother of her late son Robert (Robbie) H. Dutra, Jr. Rena was the beloved grandmother to Gillian Chew, Amelia Chew, Timothy Pierce, his wife Caitlin, and Diana Evans. Rena is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Kiah James and Ollin Robert. Rena was also the adoring aunt to many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours that relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend will be held on Sunday, April 2nd from 11:00AM-2:00PM followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 2:00PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rena's name to the Old Colony Hospice.
