Richard William James, 84, of Brockton, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 in Brockton after a short illness. He was the husband of Claire A. (Wallace) James.
Born May 19, 1929 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Philip G. James and Mary R. (Olenick) James. A lifelong Brockton resident, he graduated from Brockton High School in 1947 and Bridgewater State College in 1951. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1964 and retired as Captain. Dick married his wife in St. Patrick Church in Brockton on August 29, 1959.
Dick operated Keystone Print and then Brockton Photo Engraving for many years.
He performed in Potpourri and local talent shows. He was the Choir Director at St. Patrick Church for many years and was also a choir member at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He was Director of Irelands Own Chorus.
Dick had a second home in North Conway, New Hampshire where he was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mountains. He enjoyed golf, music and piano playing.
He is survived by his wife, Claire A. (Wallace) James; his children, Antoinette Mary Criss and her husband R. Randolph, Constance Claire Jones and her husband Stephen, Richard W. James, Matthew Vincent James and his wife Deborah and Frances Helen James; his grandchildren, Ian, William and Megan James; his brothers, Philip James and Robert James; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton on Saturday, March 1st at 8:00AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM. Private Cremation will follow. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home Friday 4:00-8:00PM.
