Online Obituaries Richard D. Matthews, 75, of Brockton, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at his home in Brockton. Born June 8, 1941 in Bristol, CT, he was the son of the late James C. Matthews and Harriet (Mosley) Matthews. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Samuel B. Roberts and the USS Arcadia. Richard retired from Old Colony Elder Services where he was Nutrition Program Director. He is survived by his daughters, Lori Matthews and her husband John Jennings of Avon, CT and Patti Pietrowicz and her husband Claude of Canajoharie, NY; his grandsons, Jakob Pietrowicz and his wife Rachael of Yuma, AZ and Jarret Zapatka of Plainville, CT; he is also survived by his extended family that includes wonderful neighbors and friends. He was the brother of the late Laura Mae Griggs, J. Wayne Matthews and Joan Belden. Funeral Information Following cremation, a memorial gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday, December 10th from 12:00-2:00PM. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville, CT on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00AM.
