Obituary

Richard J. "Dick" Osborne Richard J. "Dick" Osborne , 71, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Andover and Brockton, died Wednesday afternoon, May 2, 2007 at the Tidewell Hospice Palliative Care Center in Venice, Florida after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the husband of Janet Turow. Born March 26, 1936 in Brookline, he was the son of the late William F. Osborne and Sarah A. (Higgins) Osborne. Raised in Brockton he was a graduate of Brockton High School class of 1954 where he was captain of the Golf team. He then served in the United States Air Force where he served as Crew Chief in the Jet Mechanic Division at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California for 4 years. After serving in the Air Force he graduated from Boston University in 1963 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Dick worked for General Electric for over 28 years in the Aircraft Engine Division in Evendale, Ohio and then in Lynn, Massachusetts. He retired in 1991. Dick was a resident of Andover for over 16 years and after retiring from General Electric he moved to Venice, Florida. Dick was an avid golfer, in his younger years he started as a caddie at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton where he became a member at the age of 16. He then was a member of Andover Country Club where he achieved 5 holes-in-one, which broke that clubs record. He enjoyed boating, fishing, working on cars, home improvement projects, and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Janet Turow of Venice, Florida; his daughters, Michele Driscoll and her husband James of Downingtown, Pennsylvania and Amanda Osborne of Haverhill, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Megan Driscoll, Julia Driscoll, Jordan Osborne, and John Osborne; his sister, Sally Russell and her husband David of Brockton, Massachusetts; he is also survived by Janet Turow's children, Gordon Turow and his wife Nancy of Pennsylvania, Linda Rosenburg and her husband Barry of Framingham, Massachusetts, and Michael Turow and his wife Joyce of Maryland; her 10 grandchildren, and her 1 great grandchild; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Tuesday, May 8th at 9:00AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours will be in the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Monday 5:00-8:00PM.
