Obituary

Richard Robert Raymond Jr. , 62, passed away on June 1st, 2022. Rick was born on April 20, 1960, in Springfield, to Rosalie Raymond Cooper and Richard Robert Raymond Sr. He grew up in Agawam until he joined the U.S. Army in 1977. He served in South Korea as a Chemical Specialist. When he was 24 he had a tragic accident that left him quadriplegic. Despite his accident, his deep faith in God helped him overcome many obstacles and find joy in his life. Rick had an adventurous spirit, a great sense of humor, and a kind and loving heart. He inspired many people. Rick loved Bible study, gaming and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of the first Springfield Seventh Day Adventist Church. Rick is predeceased by his father Richard Raymond Sr. and his stepfather Jack Cooper Sr. He is survived by his loving mother Rosalie Raymond Cooper; his brothers Donald Cooper and Jack Cooper Jr both of Agawam; his sister Roxanne Beharry of South Carolina; several nieces; a nephew; and longtime friend Angelika Dewey of Hatfield. Family and friends are welcome Thursday at 2 p.m. to the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1390 Main St. Agawam MA for military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans.
