Online Obituaries Richard J. Sergi, 71, died Tuesday December 16, 2014 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 2, 1943 in Brockton he was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Rose) Sergi. A proud lifelong resident of the city, he was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School Class of 1961, Boston College Class of 1965. He received a Masters of Science in Administration from Bridgewater State College in 1967. Richard was a teacher at the North Junior High School in Brockton from 1970 to 1984. He became the Executive director of the Brockton Housing Authority in 1991 a position he held for 13 years. Richard was very active with Our Lady of Sorrows Convent and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He is survived by the love of his life Joanne M. Donovan of Brockton; nieces and nephews, Suzie Sergi Murphy of Duxbury, Patricia Sergi Duty also of Duxbury, Mark Sergi of Florida and Maryann Sergi Taylor of South Carolina. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and dear friends, John Sr., and Marcia Beals, John Emery Beals Jr., and Kristina Marie Beals Mejil and their families. He was preceded in death by a brother Arthur Sergi, Jr., D.D.S. Funeral Information A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 22nd in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton at 10:00AM. At Richard's request, calling hours are omitted.
