Richard William Willemsen, aged 85, of Brockton, MA, passed away on April 6, 2020. He was born on July 23, 1934.

Papa had a wonderful sense of humor, even if it meant laughing at his own jokes. He loved his oldies music from, Big Band, Swing, 50's and vocalists. He would work out with weights when he was younger.

And he enjoyed helping others whether it was mowing someone's lawn or clearing a driveway of snow.

Richard proudly served in the Dutch Navy, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to his country.

In addition to his military service, Richard had a diverse career as a baker, painter, and welder, showcasing his versatility and skills in various trades.

Left to honor Richard's memory are his son, Jim Willemsen, and daughter, Ellen Willemsen, along with numerous relatives and friends both in his native Netherlands and his adopted home in the United States. Preceding him in death were his sisters, Irene Jacquart, Dorothy Willemsen and Lily Arling, and his brothers Jack and Ronald. His daughter, Debby Willemsen, also predeceased him, and her memory is fondly remembered.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 3 - 5pm at Russell & Pica in Brockton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Old Colony Hospice in memory of Richard Willemsen.
