Riner A. Anderson, 85, of Brockton, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 12, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of the late Virginia M. (Voci) Anderson for 57 years.
Born on February 22, 1930, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Riner and Avis (Karlson) Anderson. A lifelong resident of Brockton, he graduated from Brockton High School in 1948. He later served in the National Guard.
Riner was employed for over 30 years at the Miller Golf Company as the Plant Supervisor. He coached Brockton Slow Pitch Softball for over 20 years, a majority of the time for the Campello Tap, in which they won several city championships. He was a long time member of the Bertocci Club. He enjoyed vacationing on the Cape with his family and friends, and watching Boston sports teams. Riner loved a good cigar, a cold beer and a game of 45.
Riner was the loving father of Steven Anderson and his wife Jean (Robertson) of Burlington, Lorna Duquette and her husband Frank of West Bridgewater, Riner Anderson and his wife Julie (Noone) of Brockton and the late Brett Anderson; he was the proud and loving grandfather of Matthew and his wife Jill (Pierce) Duquette, John and Stephanie Duquette, Jillian, Jessica, Sean, Melanie and Megan Anderson; and his great-grandchild Lincoln Duquette; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was brother of the late Shirley (Anderson) Studley and Muriel (Anderson) Gurney.
Funeral Information
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 16th from 4:00PM to 8:00PM followed by a vigil service at 8:00PM. Following Cremation a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 19th at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home at 11:00AM. Interment of Riner's ashes will follow at the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
