Online Obituaries Rita Dorothy Carrera Henry, 88, of Brockton, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Baypointe Nursing Home after a short illness. She was born in Valencia, Trinidad and Tobago on February 6, 1929 to the late Kishu Gonzalas and Rosita Carrera. Rita lived in Boston for most of her life and moved to Brockton in 2013. She considered herself a Trinidadian American and enjoyed her frequent trips back home to Trinidad and the large extended family there that was so important to her. Despite never having any children herself, she loved children unconditionally and participated in the raising of many children throughout her long life. She is also remembered fondly for her delicious Trinidadian cooking and love of all card games. Rita is survived by a large extended family. She was especially close to her nephew (and adopted son) Curtis Lezama; her cousin, Kim Brown and Kims daughter, Karen Krouson. Funeral Information A funeral Mass will be held in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, 270 Elliot St., Newton on Friday, February 10th at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Needham.
