Rita (DiMarzio) Matta, 83, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Alfred M. Matta.
Born August 8, 1930 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano DiMarzio and Julia (Tiberii) DiMarzio. A lifelong Brockton resident, she graduated from Brockton High School in 1948.
Rita worked for Knapp Shoe Company and as a lunch lady for the Brockton Public School System.
She was a devoted member of St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church in Brockton where she was a communicant and worked the Bingo. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by her children, Paula Lee and her husband, the late Jack Lee, Alfred M. Matta and his wife Michelle of Naples, Fl and Sandwich, Donna Flanagan and her husband Paul of Bridgewater and Peggy Tonucci and her husband Guy of Berkley; her grandchildren, Nick Lee, David Lee, Michelle Ziegler, Kristy Miller, Jessica DiBacco, Michael Flanagan, Kelly Flanagan, Kayla Tonucci and Mark Tonucci; her siblings, Cesira Nuovo and Patricia Barry; her sister-in-law, Rose Anne Saad of Easton; her brother-in-laws, Edward Matta and his wife Shirley of Brockton and Florida and Charles Barry; she is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday at 9:30AM followed by a Service of the Devine Mysteries in St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 No. Main St., Brockton at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Sunday 5:00-8:00PM with incense service at 6:00PM.
