Rita Cassia Madeira Monteiro, 73, of Brockton, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the wife of the late John S. Monteiro.

Born in Brava, Cape Verde on November 12, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Luis Andrade Madeira and Dinora (Mascarenhas) Madeira.

Rita is survived by her daughters Janice Santos and Natercia Monteiro; her stepchildren Victor Monteiro, Antonia Monteiro and John Jose Ribeiro; six brothers and seven sisters; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday, June 1st at 9:00AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Church, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 10:00AM. Private cremation will follow. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00PM.
