Obituary

Robert G. “Bob” Nichols age 64 of Brockton died Tuesday February 12, 2019 at Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Janet (Cobbett) Nichols and father of Ryan Nichols of Brockton.

Bob was born and raised in Middleboro a son of the late Gordon and Madeleine (Sturgis) Nichols. A 1972 graduate of Middleboro High School he received his degree in music education from Lowell State College. For over twenty years Bob had been an instrumental teacher in Brockton Public Schools and retired in 2014.

Bob played the trombone with various groups in the area. In addition to music he also enjoyed following Boston sport teams. He will be remembered as a kind, compassionate and generous man who loved his family and friends.

Bob is survived by his son Ryan Nichols of Brockton, his brother Thomas Nichols and his wife Barbara of Middlesex, NJ, his sister in law Rose Fournier and her husband Kevin and brother in law Raymond Cobbett and his wife Michelle. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Friday 3-7pm. Funeral Service in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30am with a musical prelude at 10am. Burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
