Downey of Brockton Nov. 8, 2002 Robert F. "Butch" Downey, Sr. 70 years. Husband of Anita M. (Yanni) Downey. Father of Robert Downey and Doreen McGarrett and her husband Andrew all of Indiana. Grandfather of Megan, Robert, Mitchell and Owen.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Edward Church at 9 AM. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 PM.

Obituary

Robert F. "Butch" Downey Sr. 70 years died Friday evening at the Brockton Hospital. He was born, raised and educated in Quincy son of the late James P. and Hazel (Mulligan) Downey. For the past 40 years he has been a resident of Brockton.

Before his retirement he had been employed by the International Laborers Union, Local #721 in Brockton.During the Korean Conflict Mr. Downey served in the US Army Paratrooper Division, 179th Regiment.

In addition to his wife of 40 years he is survived by a son and a daughter, a son-in-law and four grandchildren.He was the brother of Geraldine McBurnie and Elizabeth Olivieri both of Weymouth, Marilyn Burgess of New York and Kenneth Downey of Weymouth.He also leaves many nieces and nephewsHe was the brother of the late James Downey and Janet Spano.
