Robert L. Chambers age 83, of Attleboro formerly of Reidsville, NC and Hyde Park, died Tuesday April 7, 2015 at Lifecare of Attleboro. He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Fortier) Chambers. Bob was born in Leaksville, NC and raised in Baltimore, Maryland a son of the late George and Ethel Chambers. During the Korean Conflict he served in the US Coast Guard.
Bob was a carpenter for most of his life and retired from the maintenance department of the South Station Postal Annex in Boston. A longtime Mason, Bob was a member of the Delta Lodge in Braintree.
A true outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, working his farm in North Carolina and raising and racing his homing pigeons. He will be remembered as a real character and a great story teller.
Bob was the father of Donald of Braintree, James of Whitman, Robert of East Bridgewater, Michael and his wife Amy of Brockton, Scot and his wife Ashley of N. Attleboro and Susanne Joyce and her husband Jason of N. Attleboro. He leaves many grandchildren and was the brother of Jackie Chambers of Maryland and the late Mamie and Billie Chambers.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Sunday 2-5 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Monday at 10 am followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
