Robert A. Colombo, Sr.
, 76, of Brockton, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. He was the devoted husband and caregiver of Carolyn (Lessard) Colombo.
Born April 25, 1935 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Michaelangelo Colombo and Giovina (Ferrara) Colombo. Robert was a proud lifelong resident of Brockton. He graduated from Brockton High School in the class of 1953. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas in Korea. After his discharge, he went to work as a truck driver for Liberty Baking Company and eventually became one of its owners. Robert later worked for Best Foods Baking until his retirement.
He was a member of White Pines Golf Course where he enjoyed many hours of golf with friends. He was also an avid sports fan. Robert most loved family gatherings at his home, cooking, watching sports, and playing with the grandchildren.
He will be forever loved by all who knew him.
Robert was a devoted husband and caregiver of Carolyn (Lessard) Colombo of Brockton; loving father of Robert A. Colombo, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Chester, NH, Kelly A. Colombo and her partner Cheryl Chianese of North Providence, RI and Darlene M. (Colombo) Flaherty and her husband Matthew of Bridgewater; he was the loving "Grampy" to Michael and Elissa Colombo both of NH as well as Aimee and Matthew Flaherty both of Bridgewater; his brothers, Louis Colombo of Plymouth, Dr. Vincent Colombo of Greenville, NC, Richard "Dino" Colombo of Gardner and Armond Colombo of Brockton. He was the brother of the late Michael Colombo and Carmella Raymond.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) Brockton on Monday, May 23rd at 10:00AM thence to Christ The King Parish, 42 Wendell Avenue, Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Sunday 2:00-5:00PM.
