Robert H. Dutra, Sr., 85, of Bridgewater, MA. passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Rena (Stratoti) Dutra for 59 years. Born and raised in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Joseph H. Dutra and Anna R. (Jacintho) Dutra. Bob graduated from Bridgewater High School in the class of 1954 where he participated in a variety of clubs and was an ambitious and respected baseball player. He attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and graduated from Burdett College. He had a successful career at the John Hancock Insurance Company until he retired. A hard worker by nature, Bob was always looking to improve the experience of his clients and earn their respect. Robert was a true family man and his greatest joy in life were his loving family and many devoted friends. He especially cherished quality time spent with his loved one's during the summers at the cottage on East Sandwich beach and winters in Longboat Key Florida. He was an avid golfer and member of the Brockton Country Club along with partaking in a Bridge Club which gave him the opportunity to spend time with his many friends whom he enjoyed so much. In addition to his wife Rena, Robert is survived by his children, Andrea Chew and her husband Robert and Derek Dutra and his wife Lori; his adoring grandchildren, Gillian and Amelia Chew, Timothy Pierce and his wife Caitlin and Diana Evans; and one great-grandson Kiah James Pierce. Robert was also the loving father of the late Robert "Robbie" H. Dutra, Jr. and brother of the late Donald Dutra. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3rd in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.,(Rt.123) Brockton followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. A private burial will take place at a later time.
