Robert P. Murphy
Robert Patrick Murphy, 77, of Brockton, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 in Brockton. He was the husband of Janet (Murphy) Murphy.
Born July 3, 1932 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Edward J. Murphy and Flora M. (Alberts) Murphy. A lifelong Brockton resident he attended Brockton Schools
He was a good friend of Bill W. for 32 years. He became the doorway to recovery for many of his family and friends. He grew up on the eastside of Brockton. In his heyday, he was a tough pugilist in and out of the ring, Rocky was his hero. He was a very proud Irishman and Native American. He loved life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
He is survived by his 7 stepchildren, Roy, Frank, Jake, Guy, James, John and Maryann who was his loyal caregiver to the end. He is also survived by his brother Walter W. Murphy of Halifax, many nieces and nephews, and dear friend of Dave Rubeski, Ed Flynn, Linda Romelo, Mary Burns and many others. He was the brother of the late Edward J. Murphy, Jr., Leo P. Murphy, Joseph J. Murphy, Margaret Mousette, Marie Dmitruk and Catherine "Kay" Bates.
Funeral Information
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday from 5:00-7:00PM at the Gazebo in D.W. Field Park, Oak St., Brockton. Please bring your own chairs.
