Online Obituaries Roberto Jesus Alves, 85, of Brockton, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Maria Alves. Born December 3, 1928 in Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Eduardo Barbosa and Carolina Jesus Alves. Roberto formerly worked for Poloroid and Raytheon Company for many years. He has been a Brockton resident for 25 years and was devoted to his wife and family. He was a former Captain of the Sporting Team in Cape Verde and was an avid sportsman. He is also survived by his children, Gina Maria Alves, Antonio Peres Alves, Joao Climao Alves, Jorge Darosa Alves, Adriano Pires; his siblings, Nelson P. Barbosa, Antonio Barbosa, Otto Monteiro, Maria Carolina Monteiro and Paul Barbosa; he is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Paul Jorge Alves and Robert Alves, Jr. Funeral Information Calling hours will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00PM. Funeral services and Interment will be held in Cape Verde.
