Obituary

Roger F. Holmes, Jr, 79, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died March 18, 2011 at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Altieri) Holmes for 58 years. Born June 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Roger F. and Lavinia (Hathaway) Holmes, Sr. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a Marksman in the Army. Roger was the owner of Brockton Auto Reconditioning Company and had been employed for many years as a Maintenance Supervisor by the Flatley Company. He enjoyed camping down the Cape and in New Hampshire; reading and playing cards; was an avid Boston sports fan and former member of the Vasa Hall Bowling league.

Roger is also survived by his children Linda Melchionne of Bridgewater, Michael Holmes of Brockton, Sharon Richardson and her husband Daniel of Brockton and Joanne Holmes of Taunton; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Nicholas Richardson.
