Ronald Richard Rushton, 81 of Bridgewater, died at home after a brief courageous battle with cancer with his family at his side. He was the husband of Barbara Rushton, they had been married for 55 years.
Born in Brockton son of the late Thomas Rushton and Mildred (Shearing) Rushton.
Mr. Rushton was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School (1961) and upon graduating entered the U.S. Army where he served as a nuclear weapons specialist. He later worked for the Foxboro Company in East Bridgewater for 30 years and later for Saint-Gobain in Taunton.
In his retirement, Ron enjoyed spending time with his wife, day trips to various restaurants, antique car shows, and time with his 13 grandchildren, Paige, Madelyn, Colin, Tyler, Brooke, Jakob, Alyssa, Clay, Riley, Kyle, Allison, R.J, and Jack.
Survivors include his widow; three sons Ronald Rushton, Jr. and his partner Chris Ngor of Newton, Brian and Brenda Rushton of Taunton, Matthew and Renee Rushton of Bridgewater. Two daughters Dawn and Scott Barrows of New Bedford and Jennifer Rushton of New Bedford.
He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Rushton; sisters Phillis Loring, Claire Macdonald, and Linda Mastera.
