Life Reflections Rosa L. (Tina) Sanders 77 was born on October 02, 1947 to the late Ervin Reese and Mary E. Sanders in Iuka, Mississippi. She was educated in her younger years at Garfield Elementary School, Harnold Junior High School, and the Central High all in Cincinnati, Ohio. She furthered her education at Job Corp in 1966 in Iowa, Northeastern University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration where she graduated Cum Laude and Cambridge College with a Master's of Management. Tina worked at Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts for two years as a Security Officer while in training to become a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Police Officer in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She retired from there in October 2007 with 29 years of credible faithful service.
Tina married her long-time partner of 39 years and eight months, Carol E. Dawkins. They legally married on August 08, 2004 in a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Stoughton, Massachusetts. They met in August 1985 at the Michigan's Woman's Music Festival in Hart, Michigan. She had a natural talent when it came to cooking. She could not just make small meals. She made enough food to feed a small army even though it was just the two of them. She wanted everyone to enjoy a meal. Her cookouts, holiday dinners and parties had more food than you could imagine, and everyone was invited to come get a plate. Chicken in all forms, oxtails, neckbones, roast, ribs, BBQ, potato salad, baked beans, candied yams, lemon pound cake, crab legs, all green vegetables, corn, fish, and everything in between. There was always a plate or container to go.
She enjoyed travelling whether by boat, RV, car, train, or plane, if it was moving, she was on it. Her favorite was cruising on the Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Lines. She enjoyed sunbathing, relaxing by the pool, dancing, eating, enjoying the scenery and most of all spending time with her Boo Boo.
She was an avid sports enthusiast. Tina was a stern (aka Atilla the Hun), no nonsense softball coach who led her team to numerous championships in various women's leagues from Jamaica Plain to Roxbury Washington Park in Massachusetts. When the New England Patriots were playing, everything paused even conversation with her Boo. Every television in the house, even the bathroom, was tuned into the game. No phone calls, no visits, no cooking, and no breathing. If you did not adhere to the rules; sweet Tina would turn to Atilla and set you straight. She had so much Patriots Gear that it filled the house. From a Patriot wheelchair to shoes to a recliner and all kinds of clothing. She will be cheering for them from heaven.
She is survived by her loving wife of 39 years Carol E. Dawkins, her siblings Ora Brooks, Ralph Sanders (Zell), Louise Mari Jones all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joanie Lowry ( Delay), and Emma Grayson of Atlanta Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents Ervin and Mary, and brothers Robert, Clarence & Raymond, a host of family and devoted friends.
Following Cremation, A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton on Saturday, May 3rd from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Followed by a funeral Service at 4:00PM.
