Obituary

Roy Ruffin, age 81 of Canton, formerly of Easton and Brockton, died Friday, October 15, 2021. He was the husband of Donna L. (Garfield) Ruffin of Brockton. A son of the late Earnest and Esther (Cowens) Ruffin, Roy was raised and educated in Bertie County, North Carolina. He moved to Boston at the age of 16.

Roy was a member of the Local 223 Laborers’ Union in Boston for many years. In his younger days he was a Golden Glove boxer in the Boston area. Roy loved children and had been a foster parent for many years. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his friends, large family cookouts and playing cards.

In addition to his wife Donna, Roy is survived by his children; Robin Belmer of Dorchester, Delicia Turner of Taunton, Roy Turner of Bridgewater, Wayne Ruffin of Brockton and Shayla Ruffin of Brockton; his stepchildren: Frederick Garfield of New Bedford, Angela Goodwyn of Brockton, James Goodwyn of Brockton, Anthony Goodwyn of Brockton, Thomas Phoenix of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Wilbert Powell of Mattapan and Millie Ramos of Providence, Rhode Island. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and friends. Roy was the father of the late Renee Bethel.

A funeral Service will be held at the Brockton Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 752 Oak Street, Brockton on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11am. Repast will be at the Elks Lodge, 21 School Street Randolph, MA from 1-5pm.
