Rudolph "Rudy" E. Francario
Rudolph E. Francario, 82, was a life long resident of Brockton, passed away at his recent home in South Easton on Monday, May 17, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of the late Eleanor B. (Nagy) Francario of 60 years. Born on June 17, 1927 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Amalia (Ferrante) Francario and Nicola Francario.
A graduate of Brockton High School, Rudy served in the U. S. Navy as Seabee from 1945-46 stationed on the Island of Guam. Rudy worked for 23 years at Western Union as a teletype operator and manager. He later worked as a typesetter and shop steward for the Dedham Transcript and then for George Dean and Co. of Boston. He was a member of the Typesetters Union for over 40 years.
He was a former Commander, Adjutant and Treasurer for the Brockton ITAM Post 16. Rudy was also active in the state ITAM for many years, serving as Treasurer. He received recognition as ITAM Post 16 "Man of the Year" in 2000. He was also a member and past Commander for VFW Whitman Post 697. He was also a member of the Brockton Sons Italy.
Rudy loved being with his family, especially so with his wife Eleanor and their six grandchildren. He served as a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton and as an usher. He also enjoyed a variety of sports and attended many of Brockton High's home games. He liked traveling, bowling with the senior league at West Gate Lanes, and participating in his various organizations.
He is survived by his four loving daughters, Judy Aveni of Plymouth and her fianc Vincent DiBaggis, Jr; Denise Duffett of Canton, and her husband John; Donna Francario of North Easton and her fianc Douglas Drake; and Tina Ebrahimian of Scotts Valley, California and her husband Dr. Max Ebrahimian. Loving grandfather to Diana Aveni Reed, Steven Aveni, Jr., Emily Duffett Sullivan, Ashley Duffett, Dr. Ariana Ebrahimian, Elena Ebrahimian, and the late John Duffett, Jr.; great-grandfather to Jack Reed. Loving brother to Tina Celia; brother-in-law to George Celia, Jr. and Virginia Mac Alpine; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Monday, May 24th at 9:30AM thence to Our Lady of the Lourdes Church, 433 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45PM. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Sunday 3:00-6:00PM.
