Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 11am. Visitation Thursday 10-11am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Obituary Information
Russell B. Ford, 93 years died Saturday evening at West Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Lena E. (Duenges) Ford. He was a graduate of Boston Latin High School, attended Harvard University and graduated from Boston University with his BA and Masters degrees in education. During WWII he served in the US Army. After completing college Mr. Ford began his teaching career in N. Dartmouth. In 1949 he began teaching in the Brockton school system and in 1952 became the Director of the Guidance Department at the Brockton High School, a position he held until his retirement in 1975. For 50 years he enjoyed summering in Harpswell Maine.
Mr. Ford enjoyed photography and was a long time member of the Greater Brockton Camera Club, was the former editor of the club’s newsletter, The Lens Tissue and was a member of the Yankee Photographic Society. He was also a 50 year member of the Paul Revere Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Ruth E. (Holmes) Ford, one son Douglas R. Ford and his wife Deborah of Brockton and two grandsons Scott and Brett Ford.
