Obituary

Ruth Elizabeth (Carey) Wise, 72, of East Bridgewater, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Born on December 20, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts, Ruth was the daughter of the late Francis Carey and Harriet (Brown) Carey. She passed away peacefully during a moment of laughter and joy, by family members who were sharing sweet memories of days gone by. She left this world with music, peace and loved ones around her, in her home, which was her desire. Ruth fulfilled many dreams in her life time. One of her biggest achievements was her education. She took great pride in completing her high school diploma, Associates Degree and Bachelor's Degree, which led her to become a licensed social worker. These were challenging accomplishments, but Ruth's resilience, perseverance, and strong will made it possible for her to be successful in her education and many other areas within her life. The name Ruth was derived from a Hebrew word meaning "friend", "compassionate friend", or "great friend", and this was certainly true of Ruthie. She leaves behind many friends and family members that will miss her smile, laughter, wisdom, support and counsel. Ruthie was always there to listen and advise. She always had a way of helping everyone see the glass half full. Her laughter and "whatever" attitude always left their mark and that was Ruthie, and we loved her. Ruthie's greatest treasure was her children. She devoted her life to supporting her 3 children in any way possible. She worked very hard and made many sacrifices to provide the best life she could for them and they are for ever grateful and in her debt. Ruth was a devout Christian. She has now gone to join God and the other family and friends that have gone before her. She leaves behind her 3 children; Tommy Wise, Ruthann Saraiva, and Eric D. Wise, a daughter in law Kim Wise, a son in law Joao Saraiva, four grandchildren; Christopher O'Hara, the late Stephen O'Hara, Julion Saraiva, and Joel Saraiva, and her 2nd daughter by proxy Candy Boyle, along with many other loved ones. Ruth was also the sister of the late Daniel Carey. God speed mom May you rest in peace and always feel the love that is being sent to you. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, January 21st from 1:00 to 3:00PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to The American Cancer Society, 1324 Belmont St., #204, Brockton, MA 02301
