Obituary

Sachiko Dorrity, known to her friends as "Happy" for ease of pronunciation, was born in Beppu, Japan. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Dorrity, and her beloved husband, Gordon Dorrity. As a widow of an active-duty service member, she led a life full of resilience and strength. After her husband's passing, Sachiko worked at Kiddie Products in Avon and continued to remain active in her community.

In her retirement, Sachiko found joy in Korean movies, history books, and traveling. As a teenager, she witnessed the devastating effects of World War II and always believed in the futility and foolishness of war. Her husband, Gordon, served in a medical care unit in the Air Force.

In recent years, Sachiko was also predeceased by her sister, Takako Corvera of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and her brother, Kendo Tomita of Japan. She is survived by her niece, Rose Dwyer, and grand-nephew, Damian Panajia, both of Alabama, as well as many friends who loved and appreciated her loyalty, warmth, and kindness.
