Sally A. (Donnelly) Dolan, 90, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Sally was born on April 1, 1936 to Lillias and Francis Donnelly in Waltham, MA. She graduated from Milton High School in 1954 and worked as a bookkeeper for Procter and Gamble. Sally married her sweetheart James R. Dolan on September 22, 1956.
Sally and James went on to have five children, Sally, Michael, Susan, James, and Sandra.
Sally devoted her life to motherhood, taking immense pride in her children and grandchildren.
She spent her summers at White Horse Beach, and was always so welcoming to family and friends.
After James’ retirement, Sally and James took road trips to Florida and enjoyed many winters there. They especially enjoyed family trips to Disney World with the kids and grandkids.
In her final years, she lived with her daughter Sandra (Steven) Pigeon, granddaughter Jacqueline (Michael) Martinez, and great grandchildren Zachary and Elsie of North Attleboro. She was cared for with tenderness and the utmost love, amongst the happy busyness of their home and the pitter-patter of little feet. She loved it there.
Sally Dolan will be remembered as kind, thoughtful, and generous. She had an incredible memory, and could be depended upon to recall remarkable details. She was a tremendous listener. She had a full and beautiful life, and she will be dearly missed.
Sally was predeceased by her beloved husband James, with whom she shall be laid to rest so that they may be together forever.
Sally leaves behind her children –
Sally (Larry) Leonard, who will remember her for the classic xoxo’s she included with every card.
Michael (Laura) Dolan, who will miss doing “son stuff,” and miss hearing Mum say: “Oh, don’t worry about that, Michael likes to do that.”
Susan Dolan, who will remember her for being such a good listener. She was always just a phone call away, and would happily listen for hours and hours…and hours, offering the ear and comfort that only a mother can provide. She would never leave a conversation without saying “I love you,” even if it required using another phone after her phone’s battery had run out. (Relevant to add that she was also a good talker).
James Dolan Jr (fiancée Kelly Camillone), who will remember her for her comforting words in crisis: “It’s going to work out. You’re going to be okay. You’re going to get through this, and this will all be behind you someday,” knowing she would make it happen.
And Sandra (Steven) Pigeon, who will remember her for her tremendous courage and resilience. She had an ability to find joy and humor, even as the days grew harder. She will miss sharing the joys and challenges of the days with her, and will remember her laugh – that wonderful laugh – always… “Goodnight, I love you, I’ll see you in the morning,” followed by an, “You know I love you, right?”
She was Nannie to her nine grandchildren – Tara Rose Baird, Brandon Leonard, Erin Medairos, Jacqueline Martinez, Meaghan Aridi, Alexandria Dolan-Silva, James R. Dolan III, Michael Dolan Jr, and Derrick Darmody.
She was Super Nannie to her eleven great grandchildren - Raelin, Zachary, Bryce, Catalina, Greyson, Elsie, Hadleigh, Addie, Brayden, Rhys, and Leila.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday April 21, 2026 from 9-10:45am, with a funeral service to begin at 10:45am in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St, Brockton. Burial at Melrose Cemetery to follow.
