Samuel A. Arena, 92, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at West Acres nursing home in Brockton.
Born August 16, 1926 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Saverio and Marianna (Celia) Arena.
Samuel graduated from Brockton High School in 1944. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1945. At the end of WWII, he was involved in the Allied Occupation of Japan, stationed in Yokohama.
He worked at the Stacy Adams Shoe Co., in Brockton and later as a nursing aide at the Brockton V.A. Hospital.
Although not an athlete himself, he was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching all sporting events, especially professional football games.
He is survived by two nieces and six nephews. He was the brother of the late Dominic, Francis and Anthony Arena and Angelina Medeiros.
Following cremation a graveside service will be held on Monday, October 29th at 11:00AM in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
