Samuel Cerrato, of Brockton, Retired Lieutenant of the Brockton Fire Department, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022. Son of Gaetano & Della (Querleno) Cerrato (predeceased). Born July 28, 1930 in Brockton Massachusetts. Graduated Brockton high school in 1949. Attended Massasoit College with a degree in fire science. Married to Dorothy (Johnson) Cerrato for over 60 years. Enlisted in the National Guards while still in high school and retired 23 years later as Lieutenant, Colonel. He served the city of Brockton's fire department for 28 years retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He was truly a hero in his community, he rescued painters in water tower at the Veterans Assoc. Hospital and also rescued a girl and her mother at a parking garage with a hundred foot crane. Truly a hero. Survived by his children, Anthony Cerrato, Lynne Florindo, Michael Cerrato and Judianne Mckay and husband James Mckay and the late Suzanne Marie Cerrato. His Grandchildren, Amanda Regan and husband Paul Regan, Dylan Marcal and wife Alex Marcal, Steven Florindo, Allison Cerrato, Darren Lachance Jr.and , Ryan LaChance., His great grandchildren, Jordan, Aiden, and Aria Regan, Andrew and Larya LaChance. His sisters Rose J. Pittella, Lucy and husband Harold Bonaparte, and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Honarary mention of Mark and Jeannie Stephens and their children Haley and Cody Stephens who he considered family. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, fishing and his farm which he established for his retirement, the 2A-4B farm. He will truly be missed, a great man, a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8th in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 7th from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton
