Samuel C. Sergio, Sr., 91, of Bridgewater, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 1, 2018, at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, his wife having predeceased him just 9 days prior. Sam was the loving husband of 60 years to the late Lorraine A. Sergio, and the devoted father of Howard Dednah Jr. (Anna), Philip Dednah, Kathleen Rogers (Dana), Lynne St. Louis (Mark), Samuel Sergio Jr. (Tiffaney) and Brenda Sergio. Raised in Brockton, Sam was the son of the late Luigi and Pasqualina (Lembo) Sergio. He is survived by his siblings Irene DeLalla of Abington and Richard Sergio of Falmouth. He is predeceased by his siblings Angelina Rubicine, Mary Hanney, Michael, Matthew "Gigi", Louis, Joseph "Chugie", George-Anthony "Dinny", and Roger. Sam was the loving grandfather to Marc, Kristen, Allison, Eva, Aisha, Shannon, Andrea, DJ, Patricia, Samuel, Noelle, Christopher, Samuel and Dallis, as well as 4 great grandchildren and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Sam was a veteran of the Navy and worked for several years as a welder at various local shipyards. He was a long-time employee of the City of Brockton Highway Department retiring after 41 years of service. He also worked for many years at the Raynham-Taunton dog track. Sam had a passion for gardening, cooking and was a talented landscaper. He enjoyed the company of his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rte. 28), West Bridgewater, on Friday, June 8, at 9:00AM thence to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St., Bridgewater, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:00AM.
