Sandra M. (King) Higgins, 82, of Middleboro, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Plymouth. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Higgins for more than 62 years.
Born in Quincy on March 2, 1943, Sandra was the daughter of the late Robert and Barbara M. (Lindberg) King. She grew up in Brockton and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Kingston, Class of 1961. She later completed her nursing education at Catherine Labouré School of Nursing.
After marrying Edward, Sandra moved to Carver where they raised their family, later relocating to Middleboro as they approached retirement. She was actively involved as a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were young and enjoyed watching her sons play football.
Sandra dedicated her life to caring for others through a long and meaningful career in healthcare. She held many roles over the years, including Activities Director at Mayflower Nursing Home in Plymouth, nursing positions at several hospitals and nursing facilities, and ultimately as a Certified Wound Care Specialist.
A woman of deep faith, Sandra was a strong and devoted Catholic. She generously supported several charitable organizations, always seeking ways to help those in need.
Sandra had a true love of music and singing, and in 1983 she joined Sweet Adelines International. Through this organization, she enjoyed traveling across the United States and sharing her passion for harmony and performance.
She was an avid New England sports fan with a particular fondness for the UConn women's basketball team and the New England Patriots.
Some of Sandra's fondest memories were of summers at the family cottage on College Pond in Plymouth, family vacations to the White Mountains of New Hampshire—including a stop at Clark's Trading Post—and trips to Stowe, Vermont.
Sandra was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Anne "Peggy" Butler. She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Higgins; her children, Beth Anne Higgins, Patrick E. Higgins and his wife Lisa, Mark C. Higgins and his wife Kimberly, Sean L. Higgins and his wife Karen and her son-in-law, David Butler. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jarryd Ramos, Tyler and Shealynn Higgins, Griffen and Hayden Butler, and Cooper Higgins.
Sandra is also survived by her siblings, Robert G. King and his wife Ginger, Charles F. King and his wife Candice, and Coleman E. King and his wife Bambi, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
