Sanefe "Sophie" "Joe" DiMaddalena, 84, of Brockton for over 60 years passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Anna (Rubicine) DiMaddalena and a brother of the late Emedio and Frank DiMaddalena. Joe had been ill for 1 and years.
Born December 31, 1924 in Spring City, PA, he was a son of the late Ugo and Mary DiMaddalena. Joe was raised and educated in Spring City and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II where he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars.
He worked as a plasterer and was a life long member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft workers Local 3 and a long time member of the Brockton YMCA. Joe loved country music and cowboy movies. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved gardening and yard work. He enjoyed making his own wine and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Anna DiMaddalena, his children, Rosemary Tessier and her husband Donald, Jr. of Brockton and Joseph DiMaddalena and his wife Theresa of Brockton; his grandson Michael S. Welch of Brockton; his great-grandson Brennan M. Welch of Brockton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his Brother and Sister in laws.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday at 8:00AM thence to Christ the King Parish/St. Colman Church, 42 Wendell Ave., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Thursday 5-8PM.
