Online Obituaries Shirley E. (Staples) Mackedon, 87, of Brockton, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the BayPointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Mackedon and the late Walter W. Johnson. Born June 16, 1927 in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late William F. Staples and Arlene G. (Macomber) Staples. Shirley had worked as a secretary for the Brockton Hospital Plant Maintenance Department for over 32 years. She had previously worked for the Telephone Company and the State Hospital. She is survived by her children, William Johnson and his spouse Dennis, Arlene Glynn, Cynthia Byers and her husband Edward and Elizabeth Hurst and her husband Scott; her grandchildren, Ashley, Valerie, Victoria and Vanessa; her sisters, Beverly Parkinson and Joan Laferriere; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Robert G. Mackedon, Jr. and Gerald W. Mackedon and she was the sister of the late Eddie Staples. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Monday November 10th at 9:00AM thence to St. Ann Church, 103 North Main St., West Bridgewater where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Randolph. Calling hours Sunday 4:00-7:00PM.
