Silvia Da Cruz, 85, of Brockton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2025, after a brief illness surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Torres Vedras, a district of Lisbon, Portugal, to Antonio Emidio and Albertina Bento Emidio. She was the wife of the late Viriato (Victor) Da Cruz, and she is survived by her daughter Ana Maria of Brockton, Massachusetts, and son Victor Cruz and wife Esther of San Diego, California, her granddaughters Jazmin, Anessa, and Keira. She is pre-deceased by her sister Justina Antunes. She is survived by her niece Ana Cristina Antunes and husband Lino, great niece Mafella, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She emigrated to the United States to be with her husband from Portugal in 1965. She worked as a seamstress for several manufacturers, Mr. Milton, Vanessa Sportswear, and Cape Cod Cricket Lane after arriving in the U.S. In 1996 she changed her career path and worked for Ace Surgical Supply Company as a production worker for over 27 years.

She and her husband lived and raised their children in Brockton, where she continued to reside after the loss of her husband. She doted on her children and granddaughters and celebrated their accomplishments in their lives. She was a source of joy and happiness to those who came in contact with her. Silvia was known for her generosity and her love of plants and flowers. When people were in need, she would assist them to ease their difficult times. Her yard resembles an English garden. She would share clippings of her garden with those who shared her love of flowers.

Visitation will be held at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA on Tuesday, January 14, 2024 from 5 to 8 pm. Her mass on Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Parish, 54 Lyman Street, Brockton, MA on Wednesday, January 15, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Mourners are asked to gather directly at Christ the King Parish on Wednesday. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 163 North Calvary Street, Brockton, MA.
