Born April 30, 1927, in Comerio, Puerto Rico she was the daughter of the late Concepcion and Felipe (Diaz) Baez. Sofia's greatest joys were her family, gardening, cooking and antiquing. Prior to coming to the United States, Sofia was a seamstress for military soldiers in her native Puerto Rico. She was the loving mother of Angel Gonzalez of Cape Cod, MA, Juanita Lima, Manuel Gonzalez and Teresa Gonzalez of Brockton, MA. She was the mother of the late Aida, Gladys, Lucy and Evelyn Gonzalez. She was the sister of Modesta Feliciano, Hipolito Baez, Esther Torres, Julia Torres of Springfield MA, and Felicita Baez of Michigan and the late Benigno Baez, Pedro Baez and Chua Baez. She was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt.123) Brockton on Friday, May 24th, at 9:00AM thence to St. Patrick Church, 335 Main St., Brockton where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM.
