Our family is sad to announce the passing of a beloved husband and grandfather- Sophath Yao. Mr. Yao passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2023 @ 2:05pm. He leaves behind his wife,Yan Yos, sister Peou Bolanos and his five children- daughter, Sophany Yao & son-in-law, Titou Kim and three grandchildren, daughter, Sophana Bun & son-in-law, Michael Bun and four grandchildren, son, Kosal Yao & Solida Than and five grandchildren, son Sopheak Yao & Sameth Roeurm and one granddaughter, son David Yao and daughter-in-law Trang Le and three grandchildren.
Sophath was born in Battambang, Cambodia. Before meeting his spouse, he served in the Cambodian Army from 1967 through 1979. In 1970, he married his current wife of 53 years, Yan Yos in Battambang, Cambodia. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and loves to chance his luck in scratch tickets which he receives every year on his birthday and during any holiday gathering. He loves his sweet desserts like sweet mangos, logans, and condensed milk. It will not be strange to hear him sneaking such items and enjoying it all by himself while his family is sleeping. He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 5 son and daughter-in-law, and 16 grandchildren and a younger sister.
We cordially invite all family, friends and colleagues to his Funeral Viewing on Sunday, May 21, 2023 between 4:00 PM-7:00 PM. His viewing will be held at Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301. Light refreshments will be provided.
