SOPHIE G. ARGREW
Sophie G. (Pappas) Argrew 89, of Avon, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Blue Hills Alzheimer's Care Center, Stoughton after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Albert L. Argrew.
Born June 29, 1920 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late George and Vasilo J. Pappas. Sophie was raised and educated in Brockton.
Sophie and her husband Albert were the owners of Avon News Superette in Avon which they operated for 35 years. She enjoyed going to Foxwood's and playing bingo. She enjoyed cooking Greek food. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them. She was married to her husband for 63 years.
She is survived by her children, Paula J. Keating of Avon and Leo C. Argrew of Taunton; her grandchildren, Liane Argrew of Centerville and Kimberly Small of Taunton; her great-grandchild Giovanna Argrew. She is also survived by her 2 sister's and 1 brother and several nieces and nephews.
ALBERT L. ARGREW
Albert L. Argrew 86, of Avon, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sophie G. (Pappas) Argrew.
Born July 15, 1923 in Ware, he was a son of the late Charles and Leoda (Dextradeur) Argrew. Albert was raised and educated in Ware. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII.
Albert and his wife Sophie were the owners of the Avon News Superette in Avon which they operated for 35 years. He was a life long member of the Avon VFW. He enjoyed going to Foxwood's with his wife. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by his children, Paula J. Keating of Avon and Leo C. Argrew of Taunton; his grandchildren, Liane Argrew of Centerville and Kimberly Small of Taunton; his great-grandchild Giovanna Argrew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton on Thursday March 11th, at 11:00AM. The Rev. Anthony Evangelatos will officiate. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45PM. Calling hours are omitted.
