Online Obituaries Soultana (Zisopoulos) Kotsiopoulos, of Brockton passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 after several months of declining health at the Copley Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton, MA. Born in Aidonia, Macedonia, Greece on November 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fotios and Vasiliki (Papadopoulos) Zisopoulos. Known as "Sue" to all her friends, she was married to Sofocles "Steve" Kotsiopoulos for over 52 years. She and her husband settled in Brockton soon after their marriage, and together they owned and operated Center Package Store in Brockton, MA for over 20 years. She then held various sales positions at Marshall's department store at the Westgate Mall in Brockton for over ten years. She was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Brockton for 66 years. She loved the Church and served in various capacities, including Philoptochos president. As one of the founders of the Annual Greek Festival, she was best known each year for making the popular honey syrup-drenched fried dough balls known as "loukoumades". She was especially proud to have been honored by the Brockton community as their choice to receive the Ministry Award for 2010, which was presented to her by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston at a ceremony in June of that year. Soultana served for a number of years as a volunteer and member of the Board of Directors at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton, MA. She was also active in the Pan-Macedonian Society for many years. Soultana was a loving mother, grandmother, and Godmother to many, as well as a caring sister and aunt. A compassionate and loyal friend, she had a zest for life and for helping out wherever and whenever she could. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and baking, and loved sharing her creations with family and many friends. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Paraskevi Zisopoulos of Aidonia, Greece, her son, Dr. Philip S. Kotsios and his wife Mary (Gialopsos) Kotsios of Chelmsford, MA, and her son, Christos Kotsiopoulos of Brockton, MA. She was a loving grandmother to Stephen Kotsios of Westford, MA, Tina Kotsios of Tampa, FL, and Maria Kotsios of Chelmsford, MA., and a great-grandmother to Madeline Kotsios of Connecticut. She is predeceased by her husband, Sofocles "Steve" Kotsiopoulos, and her brother, Nikolaos Zisopoulos of Greece. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton on Friday, October 4th at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Thursday 4:00-8:00PM.
