IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen
Monteiro
March 19, 1971 – January 1, 2025
Stephen A. Monteiro, (BFD), of Brockton, died on January 1st, 2025, at Brigham and Women's Hospital after a courageous battle with occupational cancer where he was surrounded by many family members and friends. Stephen is the son of Donna Monteiro and the late Stephen Monteiro. Stephen is survived by his children Ava 18, Alex 16, and their loving mother, Lisa Monteiro. He is also survived by his sister Lisa Shanks and husband Darren, and brother Corey Monteiro. Steve was an amazing person, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend to many.
Raised in Brockton, he was a graduate of Brockton High School class of 1989 and received his associate degree in Fire Science from Massasoit Community College. Steve was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Steve also worked many years as an EMT/Paramedic in the City of Brockton starting with Norfolk Bristol Ambulance. Stevie began his career with the Brockton Fire Department in 1999 and was part of the MAGNIFICENT 7 in drill school. Stevie worked as a firefighter at Station 4 on the Eastside and Station 2 in Campello. Stevie was promoted to Lieutenant where he was assigned to the training division and then assigned to Ladder Company 4. Most recently he was promoted to Captain where he was in command of the Fire Alarm and Communications Division.
With his infectious smile and unique sense of humor, Stevie was loved by everyone who met him. He would be the first to offer help to anyone in need and was truly the kindest of souls. With his impeccable punctuality, he would never keep anyone waiting, just tee off and he'll meet you at the second hole. Steve also had an affinity for golf carts. He always treated them with respect and would return them in the condition it was received.
Stevie was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, golfing, and playing baseball. Steve loved camping and spending time by the campfire with family and friends. He was an avid Yankee's fan which always made for a fun point of contention with friends. One of Stevie's favorite pastimes was hanging out on the steps on Electric Ave with the Eastside Boys. Steve was never the first to arrive but he was usually the last to leave a party.
Ava and Alex want to say "Always and Forever in our hearts, gone but never forgotten. We were so proud to have you as our dad."
