January 1, 1919 – June 11, 2025
Steven M. Benner, 76, of Middleboro, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving and devoted husband of Anita (Williams) Benner.
Born November 6, 1948, in Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas Benner and Evelyn (Roache) Benner. Raised in Dorchester, he attended Dorchester schools and graduated from Cathedral High School. He was a communicant of Saints Martha and Mary Parish in Lakeville.
Steven served proudly in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam era.
Steven lived in New Hampshire for many years but resided in Middleboro for the last 18 years.
Steven had many jobs, he worked for the City of Boston as an Electrical Inspector, he owned and operated a Hood Milk Business Franchise and was the Circulation Manager for The Citizen newspaper in New Hampshire.
Steve joined the Knights of Columbus at the age of 18 and was a former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus in Middleboro.
Steve was known for loving his family deeply and always wanting to share a laugh and good time. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita (Williams) Benner, and his six children, Steven Benner Jr, Thomas Benner and his wife Tricia, Mark Benner and his wife Amy, Erin Fitzgerald and her late husband Luke, Keith Benner and his husband Hans, and his beloved youngest son, the late Brett Benner; his wonderful grandchildren, Steven III, Jillian, Melanie, Logan, Brady, Rory, and Owen; his younger sisters, the late Sharon Benner, Anne DeGrechie, Bridget Joyce an her husband Anthony, his mother in law, Anita Griffin, and sister in laws, the late Linda Williams, Susan Kohlhofer and her husband John, Donna Devlin, Janet Robinson and her husband Daniel, and Patricia Reed and her husband Kevin. Steven is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces.
Funeral from the Russell and Pica Funeral Home, 17 Main Street, (Rt 105) Lakeville on Monday, June 23rd at 9:00am thence to Saints Martha & Mary Church/St. Isidore Parish, 354 Bedford Street, Lakeville where a funeral mass will be celebrate for the repose of his soul at 10:00am. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30pm. Calling Hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Sunday, June 22nd from 2:00-6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steven's memory may be made to Donate Life America.
