Obituary

Tefte (Chicos) Chani 90, of Rockland formerly of Brockton died Christmas Day at the Coyne Healthcare Center in Rockland after a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife of the late Peter J. Chani. Tefte was born in Boston and raised in Watertown the daughter of the late Harris and Theodora (Adams) Chicos and had resided in Brockton for many years before moving to Rockland in 1993.
A graduate of Bryant and Stratton College, Tefte assisted her husband at Chaney’s Pharmacy at the West Shopping Center in Brockton. In her free time she loved to cook, play golf and take care of her family and others.
Tefte was the mother of John C. Chani and his wife Claudia of Foxboro and Karen L. Chani of Hanson. She leaves several nieces and nephews and was the sister of the late Flora Theodore, Peter Chicos and John Chicos.
Services have been held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery where she was buried with her husband. In lieu of flowers donations in Tefte’s name may be made to the Rockland Council on Aging, 394 Union St. Rockland, MA 02370.
