Donald E. Paige

The Rev. Donald E. Paige, 91 years of Danvers died Sunday July 20, 2008 in Danvers after a period of failing health. He was the husband for 56 years of the late Louise Scott (Cairns) Paige and nine years of the late Crystle (Moorehouse) Paige. He was born and raised in Lynn, the son of the late Walden and Mabel (Boyer) Paige. He was valedictorian for the class of 1934 at Lynn English High School. He then attended Boston University and received a degree in Liberal Arts, a degree from the Graduate School and also the School of Theology. He was ordained into the Methodist Church in June of 1938 and served pastorates in Gleasondale, Clinton, Easthampton, Gardner, Danvers, Malden and Revere, Sagamore, Brockton and Kingston, RI.
During WW II he served as chaplain in the Army Air Corps in Foggia, Italy. In 1952 to 1955 he was the Protestant Chaplain of the former Gardner State Hospital and from 1970 to 1980 he was the Chaplain of the Malden Fire Dept.
He was also a thirty second degree Mason. He enjoyed traveling and reading, but he will be remembered for his dedication to his ministry and the consumption of Louise’s congo bars.
He was the father of Donna Thayer and her husband Alan of E. Bridgewater, Janet Jones and her husband Paul of Humble, Texas, Robert Paige of Humble, Texas and Jerome Paige and his wife Janet of Danvers, he also leaves twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral Service in the
Church of St. Alban
35 Waitt Ave.,Lynn, MA Friday at 10am. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, MA. Visiting hours will be in the Church Thursday 4-8pm. Donations in Rev. Paige’s name may be made to the Church of St. Alban. Floral tributes must be delivered to the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. Brockton by 12 noon Thursday.
