Obituary

Online Obituaries On July 4th, 2017, Thomas Raymond Donahue, age 70, of West Bridgewater, died surrounded by his family after a long illness. Tom was a loving husband to his wife of 47 years, Anne P. (Howard) Donahue, a lifelong resident of West Bridgewater. Toms commitment to family lives on in his three children, Julie Kulchuk of Littleton, William Donahue of South Lake Tahoe, CA and Heather Peterson of Avon, CT; his five grandchildren, Katie, Meara, Seamus, Maeve and Maxwell; his sister, Ann Broderick of Merrimac; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Tom was a dedicated family man who took great joy in attending the games, plays, and recitals of his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Tom was born on April 1, 1947 in Newburyport, to William Anthony Donahue and Mary Bernadine (Buckley) Donahue. Tom attended Newburyport High School and enlisted in the Navy. Tom was a United States Navy, United States Navy Reserve and Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country for 28 years. In 1993, his retirement was honored aboard the USS Constitution where he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Tom held a BS in Business Administration from Stonehill College and a MS in Quality Systems Management from the National Graduate School in Falmouth MA. He earned both degrees while working full-time. He spent over 30 years as a Manufacturing Systems Engineer at Boston Gear in Quincy. After leaving Boston Gear, he dedicated his free time to independent income tax preparation. Tom loved his country, cherished his military service and avidly studied military history. When he wasnt spending time with his family and grandchildren, or working on the house or in the yard, he could likely be found watching a documentary, reading a book, or listening to Irish music. As all four of his grandparents were first generation Irish immigrants, Tom had an affinity for Irish culture, music and dance. He also loved to spend time at the Bridgewater Vets Club with his fellow veterans. Tom traveled the world through the Navy and his work, bringing his children home gifts and stories from places like France, Spain and Japan. Those stories of travel inspired his children to go off and see the world as well. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St.,(RT28) West Bridgewater on Saturday, July 8th at 10:00AM.
