Obituary

Thomas P. Hyland, age 67, of Brockton, died Saturday August 31, 2013 at his home in Brockton. He was the devoted husband of Dorothy (McCarthy) Hyland. Loving father of Thomas Hyland and his wife Allyson of Brockton, Sean Hyland and his wife Heather of Northboro, Matthew Hyland and his girlfriend Yvonne of Taunton, and Laura Hyland of Foxboro. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, his sisters Patricia O’Werka and her husband Bill of Plymouth, Margaret Hyland of Brockton, and Eileen Martini of Brockton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom was born in Boston MA on March 21, 1946, son of the late Thomas P. and Delia M. (Crehan) Hyland. Tom was a graduate of English High School, and Newbury College. He later went on to serve in United States Marine Corps during Vietnam, reaching the rank of Corporal. Tom loved carpentry, auto mechanics, reading, and especially writing, finishing writing his first novel recently. He was a volunteer for the Veterans association, counseling soldiers returning from combat.He was also a Friend of Bill W.
A visitation will be held at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. Brockton, on Wednesday September 4, 2013 from 4:00 till 7:00 pm. A service will follow the next day in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
