Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Kotopoulos, passed quietly on Friday, September 2, 2022. Tom is predeceased by his wife Eftichia (Zahos) Kotopoulos to whom he was married for almost 50 years; his brother Christos Kotopoulos and his parents Vasilios and Olga Kotopoulos. He is survived by his sons, Bill and his wife Denise of North Easton, MA and Frank and his wife Effie of Charlestown, MA; his grandchildren, Tom and James; his sister-in-law Janet Kotopoulos of Brockton; his brother-in-law Zacharias Zahos and his wife, Despina of Clearwater, FL; his sister-in-law, Elenie (Zahos) Filippou of Trikala, Greece. He is also predeceased by his sister-in-law, Victoria (Zahos) Kosmatopoulos and her husband, Christoforos; his sister-in-law, Litsa (Zahos) Koutroukas and her husband, Yianni; his brother-in-law Gregoriou Filippou; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Tom Kotopoulos, known lovingly by his grandchildren and many others as "Papou", was a kind and hard-working man, born in a small village in northwestern Greece called Aidonia in 1936. He immigrated to the US in 1954 settling in Brockton, MA with his parents and brother.

Tom first worked at Columbia Tannery before owning a diner called "The Luncheonette" within Zayre's (formerly Coats Field) from 1964 to 1984. Here you could find anything from raspberry lime rickeys and root beer floats to American chop suey, Friday fish and chips and Tom's famous grapenut pudding. Tom continued to work at various restaurants in the city including Christo's and West Side Foods until he retired in 2010.

Tom enjoyed gardening and was known for his amazing fresh vegetables. He loved cooking, taking daily walks, watching horse races and spending time with family and friends. Tom was known for his love of cuisine, sharing dishes and recipes with heartfelt joy.

Calling hours will be held in The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak Street, Brockton, MA 02301 on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 9:00-11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Tom's memory be made to The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Brockton.
