Online Obituaries Thomas P. Powers, 66, formerly of Somerville and East Bridgewater, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Brockton VA Hospital after a period of failing health. Born June 28, 1946 in Somerville, MA he was the son of the late Patrick J. Powers and Margaret (Ronayne) Powers. Raised in Somerville, Thomas was a United States Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, camping and the outdoors and spending time at the pool. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Sharyn E.P. Sawyer and her husband Jay; his grandchildren, Jameson and William Sawyer; his former wife Elaine Martin; his girlfriend Rosemary "Rose" Sealy and his two sisters Marie Dooley and Nancy Steed. Funeral Information Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 21st from 9:00AM-11:00AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM. Interment with military honors will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.
