Thomas "Tom, Hukka" Richard Schoener, 79 years old, born December 8, 1942 of Taunton, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving daughters.
Tom was born and raised in Dedham, MA, son of the late Herman Schoener and Mary Elizabeth (Kennedy) Schoener, brother of the late Donald Young and Suzanne Schoener.
Tom was a Marine Corp veteran, serving during Vietnam. He had many vocations over the years but most recently and most loved was as a chef, working at the former Greenery in Middleboro, MA. Tom loved his co-workers and especially loved the residents.
Tom had many interests, loving to cook and eat great food, especially in good company! He was an avid New England sports fan. In his youth he was a member of the South Shore Neptune's Dive Club for many years, always having a great love of the ocean. Tom loved music and was always ready with a great story of some concert or band he had seen and could usually be found listening "some tunes" cranked up on his stereo, knowing the lyrics to just about every song! Friends, neighbors, and family will miss seeing Tom sitting on his porch no matter the season, usually in shorts, smiling and waving, ready for a conversation or a visit.
Tom is survived by his "little rascals" or "tigers" as he lovingly referred to his girls, Kimberly Smith and spouse Nickolas, Jessica Schoener, Katelyn Bernabeo, Jillian Schoener, and their mother Diane Schoener. His beloved grandchildren Amara, Kennedy, Sydney, Jacob, Olivia, Arian, Grady, Colton, Isadora, Victor, and Tiegan. He also leaves behind his brother, Edward Schoener, and niece Colleen Hynes.
His family would like to thank the staff at Dana Farber and Brigham and Women's Hospital for their care over the last year, and especially Southcoast VNA Hospice services for their compassion and love over the last month and a half.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
