Obituary

Thomas E. Spaulding, Sr. age 86, lifelong of Brockton, died October 3, 2016 at Tufts Medical Center. He was the loving husband for 64 years of Elizabeth F. (Reardon) Spaulding, and son of the late Lillian (McGee) Spaulding. Tom was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1948 and was also a graduate of Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University. He joined the Navy for four years during the Korean War and was a member of the VS32 squadron aboard the USS Oriskany as a radar operator. For over 30 years, he was employed as a mechanical engineer by Northrop Grumman Corporation in Norwood, until his retirement. Tom enjoyed playing golf at Poquoy Brook golf course, working in his yard and reading. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

Tom is also survived by his children Thomas Spaulding and his wife Valerie of Bedford, Brian Spaulding of Taunton and Nancy Derouen and her husband Peter of Halifax; seven grandchildren; one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Collette O’Neil and John “Bussy” Spaulding, his twin.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the Funeral Home Saturday at 9:30 for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 10:30. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Tufts Medical Center, 800 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02111.
