Thomas B. Thompson, III

Thomas Benjamin Thompson III, affectionately known as “BJ,” was born in Stoughton, Massachusetts, on February 21, 1978, to the proud parents, the late Thomas Benjamin Chaplin and Marcita Thompson. He died on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Thomas grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Avon Middle-High School in Avon, Massachusetts. After high school, he attended Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. He later graduated from the Providence College School of Continuing Education in Providence, Rhode Island, with an Associate of Arts degree. From there, Thomas would take on many different jobs throughout his life. He worked as a medical supply courier. Thomas was a real estate agent. He was also very passionate about music production. Through Red Moose Tribe, Inc., Thomas provided graphic design services and created T-shirt designs.

Thomas was a very talented and creative person. Many would describe him as being very genuine and a hard worker. He was a big Boston sports fan, and he especially loved cheering on the Celtics and the New England Patriots. His sense of style was impressive, and he was an avid sneaker collector.

He loved creating music and listening to artists such as Nas and Jodeci. He also enjoyed several songs by the Hawkins Family. His voice can be heard on a rap verse that he wrote for the song “Joy Divine,” which appears on the Just 4 Praize CD. Thomas even wrote a children’s book, “Alphabet Zooland,” with illustrations by his cousin, Jonathan Thompson.

Thomas had a variety of plants that flourished under his care. He also loved maintaining the fish in his spectacular saltwater fish tank. It was an amazing showcase. One of his favorite things to do in his spare time was to find recipes and cook specialty dishes for his family and friends to enjoy.

The pride and joy of his life were his sons Thomas and Tiwar. He was so proud of them and loved spending time with them. Whether watching them play sports or celebrating their birthdays, these events were some of the happiest moments of his life. They truly made him the happiest dad.

Thomas had a big, beautiful, radiant smile, and he always greeted you with a big hug. He had a good sense of humor. He brought joy wherever he went. He was always willing to lend a hand and help his family and friends. Thomas had friendships that endured over decades. His joy and kindness will be forever in our hearts and minds.

Thomas is survived by his mother, Marcita Thompson-Meade; stepfather, William Meade; his sons, Thomas Benjamin Thompson IV and Tiwar King Thompson; his brothers Anwarr Thompson and Jamie Moniz; his stepbrother, Robert Tolson; and stepsister, Shavon Seldon; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation with the family will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the Hyde Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6 Webster St., Hyde Park, MA 02136, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
