Obituary

Timothy Joseph was born on June 19, 1961 in Brockton, Massachusetts as one of five children born to Priscilla "Pat" A. (Duarte) Gomes and the late Louis Vincent Gomes. Timmy, as we all affectionately called him, or Captain "Tim Dawg" and "Uncle Buck," was a cherished son and brother; and, as more than a close cousin, he was a big brother, best friend, mentor, coach, and role model for so many of us. Timmy positively influenced everyone and everything he touched. As a man of courage, strength, and compassion, Timmy gave 8 years of his life as a Sailor in the United States Navy, proud to be part of a vast military family. Timmy's dedication to human service encompassed being a Community Leader and advocate for underprivileged/undeserved folks. Always motivated, Timothy earned his Associate of Science degree in Private Investigation at City College in Miami, Florida; studied Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts; and completed Operating Engineering Training in Florida. He was promoted to Construction Supervisor and Crain Operation Specialist, and helped build many of the super structures and skyscrapers in Miami. Timmy lead and taught construction and heavy equipment operations, an extremely dangerous job which requires intense precision and strength. He achieved the distinction of becoming one of only a few African American Construction Workers in the nation to be contracted for building skyscrapers, high above ground. Timmy was also a professional Diver, an avid fitness advocate, and enjoyed healthy dining and occasional creative pastimes such as acting and modeling; he studied at Actors Workshop in Boston and was featured as an Extra in film. Our beloved Timothy passed away as the Lord God took him home on September 26, 2020. Timmy leaves, to carry the torch, his mother Priscilla "Pat" A. Gomes; sisters Cynthia Anita Gomes, Valerie Marie Gomes, and Stacy Gomes; his son Bryce Moreno; a host of family encompassing an ocean of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and, cherished close friends. Timmy overcame some of the worse circumstances in life as an Ambassador of Jesus Christ and a Warrior of righteousness. He set a high example for all of us, compassionately urging us to pursue our dreams, never give up and, most of all, love our family and friends and those who are lost and afraid. Timothy will be loved forever and we know he is resting in the blessed arms of Christ our Lord and Saviour.
